WHAT:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant using joint-locks and choke holds. Students in BJJ can train for self-defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi), or just for fun! We highly recommend that all participants wear a mouth guard. You may also be interested in wearing the traditional BJJ uniform: the gi. If not, we ask that you wear a tight fitting shirt or rash guard that covers the shoulders. Additionally, bracelets and other jewelry items must be removed.
INSTRUCTOR:
Patrick Becker moved from Rochester, NY to Los Angeles in 1999 and soon began training at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. In 2003 he began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu   career and in 2011 he received his black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Pat also holds a Coach Level I certification in Combat Submission Wrestling, and an Advanced Student I certification in Shoot Wrestling (Shooto). Pat has trained in various other disciplines such as Muay Thai, Vale Tudo, and Jun Fan Kickboxing, and has earned medals in many regional, national, and international Jiu-Jitsu and grappling tournaments including a Silver medal at the 2012 Pan-Ams.
